In 2017, after a lengthy court battle, the Chamberlain Group, Inc. had won its case against Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd., suing them for patent infringement regarding certain connectivity aspects of their Garage Door Opener systems. A unanimous jury found that Techtronic Industries (TTI) infringed on 2 of Chamberlain’s patents, with the court awarding Chamberlain $3.6million in lost profits. Home Depot had taken the TTI-made products off its shelves, and Chamberlain permanently restrained the sales of TTI’s Ryobi GD200 and GD200A garage door openers.
